Lauren Fields her PhD in fish biology from the University of Illinois. She has a love of the Antarctic and its fish fauna. She studied the ecology and physiology of Antarctic fishes such as how the environment effects levels of antifreeze protein in the blood. She is interested in the human impact from the number of fisheries operating in the Southern Ocean. She traveled to the Antarctic Peninsula in 2006-2007 with Michigan State University and has conducted field research at McMurdo Station in 2012-2013, Scott Base in 2010, and at Palmer Station in 2014. In her free time she enjoys scuba diving with really cold fish. This website exists to promote Antarctic Science and awareness of the fragile Antarctic ecosystem.
